International Women's Day - Newstead Style

International Women's Day held at the Newstead Community Center on Monday 8 March 2010 was a
fantastic success. This year marked the 100th International Women's Day celebrations across the
globe and coincides with 100 years of women fighting for and winning the vote. Despite (or perhaps because of the ) torrential rain there were about fifty or more women from Newstead and surrounds gathered together to dance, listen, sing, eat fabulous home made food, laugh and generally have  a great day together.

As ever there are people to thank for their help organizing and participating in the day- Rose Walter,
Wendy Ashton, The Blenders, Beth Higgins, Jac Griffiths, Yvonne Greenhill, Grace McCaughey and The River Ukes, Thanks to the people who generously donated door prizes for the day- Amanda Hoyne for a massage, Gail leech for a photography session, Tania Smith of Tanzibar for a hair do and Dig cafe for a coffee and cake voucher. Thanks also to Bendigo Bank for funding the cost of the hall and glasses for everyone, the IGA for our coffee and tea and the RTC for the cost of printing the
flyers for the event.

Thanks to everyone who came along to make the day a real success. See you all at next years celebrations.
